Thyme essential oil, similar to lavender, is one of the most versatile oils. Taken from the dense perrenial shrub, thyme has oval aromatic leaves with pale purple/white flowers. This strongly scented oil can be used to treat abscesses, acne, bruises, burns, cuts, dermatitis, eczema, insect bites, lice, gum infections, scabies, arthritis, gout, muscle aches and pains, obesity, bad circulation, rheumatism, sprains and sports injuries.
Thyme oil can also be used to treat asthma, bronchitis, laryngitis, diarrhoea, flatulance, chills, colds and flu and infectious disease. Thyme has a calming effect on the nervous system too, being used for headaches, insomnia, nervous debility and stress related conditions.
